Becoming an Author
Becoming an Author was an unexpected experience that my life guided me into being. Some of my life long friends call it an MTB or "Meant To Be". I decided to write my first three books as something special, something fun and something for profit. My Uncle Richard Emerson Swan was a man who did things a certain way and inspired me to do and experience many things in my life to understand and enjoy the World around me. My Uncle liked to do things that were special, for fun and for profit. It was his way of living that brought him success and joy. Three very important things surrounding anything he did and I still do. Having a close connection to the Ralph Waldo Emerson family tree I wanted to celebrate and contribute to the culture of our Family Trees with my first three books.
I started writing my books in the forest surrounded by Nature with clear skies above and the sounds of creatures of the forest singing and playing. My books are about the World around us and connections to the spirit world, and each book sets the stage for the next in understanding things very complicated and special someday many of you might understand. They are children's books but are meant to be enjoyed by people of any age. As you venture through the website from start to finish there is a story being told and by the end you might understand the connections. Depending on your age and life experience the books will have different meanings to you whether you are 5 years old or 100 years old.
The Copyright Process was an interesting experience where I learned about the subtleties of making sure everything is perfect and respectful to the World of Authors. I also wanted to use one of my Uncles original expired Trademarks in my books and had conversations with people to make sure it was legal and fine and proper to do so. My Uncle Dick always did funny clever things and some of the things took years or decades for me to figure out. Once I figured them out and told him he would smile and give me a wink, and sometimes say "You get a cookie!" or a $100 bill if I made him money.
My Uncles original Trademark for his company was the outline of a Swan inside of a circle. My Uncle Dick had over 100 Patents and Trademarks to his name by the time he passed away and many of his inventions had hinges and things that flapped or moved back and forth. I looked through the history of his products and figured out that when he got one of his inventions to flap or move he created the newer Trademark of the outline of a Swan with a little wing flapping upwards! Quite clever and secretly funny! One of Uncles expressions was "You have an uncanny grasp for the obvious!"
My Futurethink plans are to hopefully make enough sales from my eBooks to pay for publishing paperback copies of my books someday and then add my Uncles newer trademark in the paperback books with the wing flapping just like the pages flapping. It will make my Uncle Dick in Heaven smile and laugh and the night time stars wink and twinkle.
I hope you enjoy my website, stories, movies and if you wish, use it as a guide to help yourself write your own books and get them published. In modern times we can make eBooks or Electronic Books which are nearly free to publish and there are many formats to choose from. My official Washington DC approved Copyright Certificate is below and it was quite exciting when I got it in the mail. The Copyright Process is not very expensive depending on what kind of media you want to make. It is only $85 to Copyright up to 10 of your own works. If you Self Publish it is also much cheaper and you only need a start up business to back you products. In most towns or cities it costs between $100 and $200 to get a business certificate and other required forms. Then make your own website and choose from the wide variety of selling platforms we have in modern society and enjoy the adventure of Marketing and Sales!
